Its owner and administrator, Tenboro, confirmed the shutdown in a post on the website’s sister site E-Hentai.
While the majority of Exhentai’s content was legal, it also hosted content that was illegal in certain jurisdictions. These included images of lolicon and shotacon, and other niche fetishes such as bestiality.
To access the site, users had to meet Tendonfag’s requirements which he often changes without warning. He bans IPs he thinks are being used by “nefarious actors” and geoblocks accounts so that they can’t view certain Exhentai galleries. He also manually adds accounts to the whitelist. This process can be tedious, and he does not explain his requirements. This makes gaining access to Exhentai very difficult. It’s a shame that Tenboro’s greedy paranoid ignorance has led to the demise of this website.
