What started out as a tweet about Soniccouture’s Xtended Piano, ended up in a truly unique instrument library for Kontakt: Box Of Tricks. Based on Imogen Heap’s live performance, this sampled collection of instruments has been developed in collaboration with her to offer a wide variety of sounds and tools.

SHADOWS is a Kontakt instrument that lets you combine and crossfade between up to 4 different soundsources to create dark, sinister and foreboding pads, drones and soundscapes. Inspired by composers like Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross, Hildur Gudnadottir and John Carpenter, this library is an ideal choice for anyone seeking to add a touch of dark magic to their musical output.

SHADOWS is a Kontakt library that contains over 2.2GB of sampled content from different synthesisers to create dark, sinister, foreboding pads, soundscapes and drones. Inspired by composers such as Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross, Hildur Gudnadottir and John Carpenter, it’s an ideal resource for anyone looking to add some dark, foreboding and evolving sounds to their productions.

One of the most unique instruments in the library is the Shruti Box, a harmonium type instrument that was sampled from Imogen Heap’s mom, and then mangled and transformed into both simple and complex sounds. Another is a set of Whirly Tubes, which are tuned plastic pipes that can be swung around to create a range of interesting noises.

All of the instruments in Box Of Tricks are great, and the fact that every aspect has been shaped by Imogen Heap makes them all feel like a true collaboration. It’s an excellent collection that you’ll enjoy spending hours playing with.
